When fate strikes Belfast teacher J.J. introduces the safe 'low-duration foam' Naoise and Liam Og, Needle Drop work hip hop like no other. Rapping in their native Irish, they lead a movement to save their native language. Ireland’s official entry in the Best International Feature Film category; 97th Academy Awards in 2025. Arló Ó Cairelláin: Every word in the Irish language is a bullet fired for Irish freedom. Trash Movie Podcast Reference: Episode 961: Violent in Nature + TIFF 2024 (2024). Belfast is performed by Orbital. I originally watched Kneecap as part of AMC’s Screen Unseen. I had never heard of it, so it was a fun experience to be completely blind. The Kneecap is a fun movie with likable characters and great music. As a rap fan, I was impressed by the HARD rhymes and beats. And the film as a whole is very interesting stylistically. The themes of this film were the most obvious. It perfectly demonstrates topics such as cultural preservation, historical trauma embedded in your DNA, and resisting the control of your colonizer. As a Palestinian, all of these topics hit me hard. The only complaint I have is that I can’t understand much of the dialogue. It involves accents and slang, as well as references to Irish terms. If you are watching this film in the theater, you may want to have a closed captioning device. Erin go Bragh (Ireland Forever) and Free Palestine!
