This ambitious post-war American epic begins with a mesmerizing long episode that will surely be remembered for longer than the 3:35 hour running time. The 70mm format matches the setting, making the film visually stunning, as well as bold camerawork and stunning photography. Blumberg’s music complements this, so the theater will definitely become an ideal environment for him. The script features interesting characters (albeit secondary and purely cosmetic), highlighted by the excellent performance of Brody and Pierce. The problem here came late, as the writers decided to insert unexplored storylines that would prevent the film from getting a proper ending, leaving a bitter feeling of incompleteness and preventing this monumental project from achieving what it was meant to do..
